the Lionheart - mortally wounded during the seige of

sur Glane
Martyred village
destroyed by a German SS Panzer division in June 1944,
left untouched as a memorial to the 642 men, women and
children massacred there. The official site gives a
complete history including photographs of the village
before and after 1944. The travelogue is written by
